Today, Jungle Jo visited Reception and Nursery classes, and brought a few of her friends along with her! She taught us about how minibeasts are classified as such because they have no bones. We met six legged insects, a millipede with hundreds of legs, minibeasts and animals with no legs at all, and even an eight legged friend called Curly Sue!
We were Agent Open minded and looked closely at Jo's pets, and even touched or held some of them! We were really careful not to harm or scare the creatures as we noticed how much bigger we were than them.
This is Brian the Giant Snail. Lily thought the shell felt smooth. In fact Jungle Jo taught us that the shell is made of the same materials as our finger nails!
This is a cockroach that looked like it had tiger stripes. Dylan said it really tickled his hands!
We met a giant millipede, which has 200 legs! Yasmin liked the millipede but she thought the locust was her favourite because it was so jumpy!
Ewa and Lina felt brave enough to hold the stick insect! They were really calm and kind to her.
Martim was fascinated by the feel of the snake. We learnt that snakes aren't minibeasts because they have bones in their body.
When we got back to class, we wanted to carry on learning about minibeasts and wanted to share our knowledge by reading non fiction books together and drawing scientific diagrams of the creatures we met.
